Plumbing in Milton
Milton is two towns when it comes to water: lake-fed homes and well-fed homes. That decides a lot of the work we do here.
Water
Much of Milton gets treated Lake Ontario water from Halton Region, about 7 grains per gallon, which is mild on our scale. Homes on Halton’s well supply get about 19 grains, which is hard. See the Halton Milton water quality report.
Softeners
On lake water, many homes do not need a softener, and we will tell you so. Check your Halton water bill to see which supply you are on. Larger households may still want one.
Permits
Most plumbing work on water, sanitary and storm lines needs a building permit from the Town of Milton. We pull the permit and book the inspection as part of the job.
Storms
Heavy storms test sump pumps and floor drains. A battery backup sump pump keeps working when the power goes out.

For most plumbing work on water, sanitary and storm lines, yes. The Town of Milton issues building permits. We pull the permit and book the inspection as part of the job.
It depends on your supply. Lake-fed homes get about 7 grains per gallon, which is mild, and often do not need a softener. Homes on Halton’s well supply get about 19 grains, which is hard; a 30,000 grain softener is $1,500 plus HST installed. Your Halton water bill shows which supply you are on.
We offer 24-hour emergency service for existing customers. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. If you have water where it shouldn’t be, shut off the main valve first, then call 548-255-2662.
